Sensitive Processing Gate “my first college project”

Hi,
I’m Varnit Goswami with username electrronix from Uttarakhand, India. Currently, I am studying at Jaypee Institute of Information Technology in ECE branch. Here is about my first college project “Sensitive Processing Gate” and I made this project in the 1st year.

Sensitive Processing Gate is a device which consists of an automatic gate, a counting device, and a metal detector. It opens the gate when a person reaches it, then counting device counts the total no. of persons entering it and at last, the metal detector checks the person body if it carries any metal object.

So, in my project device consists of:
A) Infrared Radiation(IR) Sensor:
It is an electronic device, that emits in order to sense some aspects of the surroundings. An IR sensor can measure the heat of an object as well as detects the motion. After the sensors detect the presence of an individual, the job of actually opening/closing the doors must be completed. Sensors are connected to the motor driver IC (L293d), which is controlled the motor of the door through rack and pinion.

B) Double-Digit Counter:
It is a counting device when an object passes through Light Dependent Resistor(i.e. LDR) it increases the counter which is display on Seven-segment display. The whole process functioning by ICs (555 in astable & monostable mode, 7490 and 7447).

The 555 timer IC is an integrated circuit (chip) used in a variety of timer, pulse generation, and oscillator applications. The 555 can be used to provide time delays, as an oscillator, and as a flip-flop element. Derivatives provide two (556) or four (558) timing circuits in one package.

Brief About 7490 IC. 74LS90 is basically a MOD-10 decade counter that generate a BCD output code. It consists of four master-slave JK flip-flop, which are internally connected to provide MOD-2 (count to 2) counter and MOD-5 counter.

7447 is a BCD to 7-segment decoder/driver IC. … Binary coded decimal (BCD) is an encoding in which each digit of a number is represented by its own binary sequence (usually of four bits). A Digital Decoder IC, is a device which converts one digital format into another and one of the most commonly used devices for doing this is called the Binary Coded Decimal (BCD) to 7-Segment Display Decoder.

C) METAL DETECTOR:
It is an electronic instrument which detects the presence of metal nearby. It gives an audible or variation in signal when it is close to the metal. https://electrronixblog.home.blog/2019/06/09/metal-detector/

Application:

  • Automation of entrances & exits.
  • For security checkups.
  • For getting statatics of audiences & vehicles are entered.

This is a really good project for electronics geeks, they can understand the basics and working of different electronics components & ICs which are used in this project. I must say I had a great time making it and using it!!
